DAILY DIRECTIONS

direction

What are directions? According to Merriam Webster, directions are a statement that tells a person what to do or how to do it. Also, it is guidance that informs you how to get to a certain place.

With today’s electronic devices, GPS is probably one of the most utilized app. It informs you how to arrive at a certain destination, how long it takes, if there are accidents, construction, detours or tolls along the way. And, now, it tells you multiple modes of transports that can be used, i.e. car, bus, train, walking and biking. GPS are built into cars, phones, and tablets. Most of us rely on this convenience for traveling and will not leave home without it. However, GPS is not foolproof. They are man-made. They have faults and may lead you down wrong paths. They can misguide you turn to left and not right, direct you the long way around or other directions that are not sought. Most of us use them anyway and hope for the best.

We have an Ultimate GPS that will never lead us astray and will always tell us the correct path to take at the proper time. God is out Spiritual Guide for all avenues of our life. The same concept that the GPS is activated, we must wake up daily and activate our Spiritual Guide.

Wake up every morning and greet God. Good morning Lord. Some have mastered this task while others have never thought about it. If you have a spouse, children, family or roommates, do you get up in the morning and say nothing? There is some type of greeting or salutation. Generally, no one wakes up and have absolutely no communication with the people in the household.

Secondly, with our spiritual GPS, we must praise Him. I praise You God. I praise Your Holy name.  Praise is an expression of love, respect, and thanks. Again in the mornings, with our families, we perform some type of ritual like a kiss or a hug maybe making breakfast or offering a cup of coffee. We should extend this same type of appreciation to our Almighty Father.

Now that we have greeted God, praised Him, now it’s time to ask for daily direction.

Give us this day our daily bread. Matthew 6:11 (KJV)

Bread is food. Food is something that nourishes (to develop or grow stronger), sustains (support or relief to), and supplies (to provide someone or something with that is needed to wanted). Ask God to nourish, sustain, and supply all of your needs daily, that include family, finances, work, and all avenues of our lives.

When asking God for our daily bread we must not fall into our human nature pitfalls. Oftentimes, God will direct, instruct, and provide us with His daily directions. And we decide, we have a better plan or a better direction. When we take our paths and not God’s path and find ourselves lost or in an unfamiliar territory, we wonder why.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)

The key is to always to communicate with God in everything in our lives and He will always be our Spiritual GPS.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:6 (KJV)

If you work with God; He will work with you.

Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. Proverbs 16:3 (KJV)

Every morning, preferably before your feet hit the floor. Remember to:

* Greet God. Good morning Lord.

* Praise Him. I praise You God. I praise Your Holy name.

* Ask God for your daily bread.

* Not fall into human nature pitfalls.

* Communicate with God in all avenues of your life.

* Work with God. He will work with you.
