The Source of Electricity

Have you ever been without electricity? It could have been related to a blackout,Power source nonpayment of an electric bill or unconnected wires from the source. Without power, there is inconvenience, frustration and feelings of loss, brokenness and longing. Depending on the circumstances, it can be lonely and dark. Why? Because we need electricity for all areas of our life. We need power.

Let’s review the basics. Before electricity can be used or restored, your electric company must connect wires from their main source to your home, this may consist of underground cables, or electric poles. Once that is accomplished electricity is available in the house. Now, there must be a workable electrical outlet. Next, a device with a proper cord. You plug in the device and receive the desired effect.

Let’s take the above example and apply it in the analogy of life.

Are you frustrated with yourself, family, friends or your spouse? Having a feeling of loss, brokenness and longing? Sometimes, is your life lonely and dark? Do you lack the power to go on?

There is a solution to restore balance, add joy, peace and prosperity. It is an electricity of life. The power is grace and the source is God. God has given us the free gift of grace. Grace is underserved, unmerited favor. Grace releases the power for to perform all feats and overcome all obstacles. Grace is not something you deserve or something you can earn—it’s a free gift from our Father.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8King James Version (KJV)

If a friend gives you an unexpected gift. You may say. I don’t deserve this. You are correct. You didn’t do anything to receive the gift. It was a kind gesture or a token of love. You’ll thank your friend and enjoy the gift.

What happens with God’s gift of grace? Few understand or realize grace exists. When a goal is achieved, instead of attributing thanks to grace—God’s gift. They give thanks to themselves, someone else, coincidences, or lucky. These are reasons why your victories are short lived. You are receiving grace, but giving thanks and praise to the wrong source.

As mentioned, there must be four components to receive electricity: a main power source, a functioning outlet, a proper cord and a workable device.

Take the analogy and plug in:

God is the electric company, the Ultimate Power Source. Without Him, there is no main power.

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 2 Peter 1:3

Grace is the power/electricity that flows from the Source.

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: 2 Corinthians 9:8

You are the device.

And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. John 1:16 KJV

The proper cord is your faith. Faith is the connection. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. You must have the strong belief and trust that God exists and grace is available. We receive grace though faith.

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:2

The outlet is your heart. God works through your heart. If you believe in your heart that grace is available; that releases the power to have a restored and balanced life.

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Ephesians 3:20

You are the device receiving electricity from the main power source. If you have a faulty outlet and/or a damaged cord, you will no achieve your desired effect. You will be in the dark. Plug the cord of faith into the outlet of your heart and receive the electricity of grace from the Ultimate Power Source.

 Avenues of Awareness

Reflection Road

  • Grace is undeserved and unmerited favor. Think about a time when you were saved out of a situation and you knew you did not deserve to be saved. Guess what that was?
  • Do you realize the power behind your skill or talent? God gave the power (grace) to do all things that align with His Word.

Devil’s Drive

The devil wants you to think you alone accomplished whatever the goal. He has convinced you that you did all the hard work with the help of a spouse, friend, teacher or coach. Guess who sent the spouse, friend, teacher or coach to you to help? Don’t play into the devil’s game. Give God thanks for His grace.

World’s Way

The world teaches people to take credit for everything. To bask in the warm arms of pride. Pride fuels people to think they do not need anyone. Their strength and hard work is all that is needed. So when the task is completed; they alone should receive the praise. Guess who dictates the world’s distorted ways—our adversary the devil. Watch out!

Personal Pathway

I was a nontraditional student when I went to nursing school. Nontraditional because I was not the young perky 18 year old, living with their parents, with no job or a part time of a part time job. I was a single parent with three children, working 12hrs shifts on the weekends to survive. I know the grace of God gave me the power to complete nursing school and receive my degree. He did send wonderful people to assist me. However, my first thanks went to Him and His free gift of grace and then to the people who helped me.
