I’ve Been Robbed

thief 2Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me—NOT. Has someone called you a bad name—loser? Whore? Stupid? Fat? Or, said a remark defaming your character: you will never amount to anything, you are worthless, you can’t do anything right?

The problem begins when the names or remakes are repeated, often enough, you begin to believe the names and begin acting the part of the remarks. Boom! Your identity has been stolen.

Your identity are the qualities and beliefs that make up who you are. When someone calls you an idiot and you perceived it as true, you have allowed that person to define you. This occurs when you lack the strength, courage or skills to defend yourself.

Your adversary, the devil is the true identity thief. His mission in life is to rob and destroy. Satan wants you to be confused about who you are, so he can dictate who he wants you to be. Ultimately, directing your path away from God.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy… I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10King James Version (KJV)

He speaks to your thoughts, after a failure, loss or disappointment. Names: Unworthy, useless, incompetent, strange, weird, dumb, ugly. Remarks: you can’t do that; they are better than you; no one loves you; you will never get a boyfriend; no girl will ever date you. Don’t believe him!

Also, Satan works through people. It could be a parent, spouse, teacher, sibling, or a friend. He will whisper his negativity to anyone he can to get his point across. However, if you know who you are, no one can tell you otherwise. You are a child of God and the Lord is your Almighty Father. You are the righteousness in God.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

Righteousness is what God gives in fulfillment of His promise to His children. It’s His free gift. What God does is perfect, good and positive. If God’s gifts are good and perfect. And you are the righteousness in God, all the bad names and derogatory remarks can’t be true. You are the righteousness in God. That is your identity.

When negativity comes you way, say “I am the righteousness of God”.

Don’t be robbed. Protect your status. If it was taken, get your identity back.

Avenues of Aspirations

Reflection Road

  1. Has someone been calling you names? A parent? Teacher? Friend? Do you believe them? Did you begin behaving according to the names you were called? If so, stop! Declare your identity?
  2. Think of a time when you were called a bad name or a disparaging remake was spoken. How did you feel? Now, with God’s wisdom, do you think that next time you will react differently?

Devil’s Drive

Satan has many different devices to use against God’s people. Sometimes he will use people close to you, taking you by surprise. Remember as he whispers evil thoughts in your mind, he does the same for our love ones. Be alert to His ways and to the people he may send to execute his wicked schemes.

World’s Way

Now a days, what was considered as bad or a bad name it now good. This may not be hip or up to date with the slang, but how is it acceptable to be called bitches? Or dogs, which is spelled dawgs. This is the world’s way to call you a name and you accept it, because it cool? Do not allow someone to call you a bad name because it’s fashionable or you want to be accepted. Stand your ground. Remember who you are.

Personal Pathway

My nose has this dark line going across it. To my memory, growing up this was not something, children teased me about. In my teens, this one particular boy I had a crush on noticed my nose. He asked me if the mark was dirt, or had my nose been broken. Replying no to each question. He began teasing me, by singing, Nose, Nose anything goes. I was humiliated. I became self-conscious about my nose. A temporary solution solved the problem, makeup. Years later, as an adult, when asked about my nose. I told them I had my mother’s nose. I went onto say, it was a mark of love. It was true, my mother had the same line going across her nose. That was a special connection between us. I did not know about declaring that I was the righteousness of God. However, because of God’s righteousness, He granted me peace about my nose.

Lord’s Lane

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17King James Version (KJV)

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. Isaiah 54:17
