Serial numbers reveal the position on an item, especially on paper currency. To simplify and for the sake of this post I am referring to the serial numbers on money.

“Money, Money, Money”…, is taken from the song, For The Love of Money. “I got my mind on my money and my money on mind”, again words taken from another song with the dealings of money.

Money is on everyone’s mind, in some shape, form or fashion. It could be, you don’t have any money, thinking of ways to get it, or you have plenty of money, and contemplating ways to get more of it.

Let’s keep it real, money or some form of spendable currency is needed to sustain life. The concept of money dances around in our minds often. Money is needed for transactions, such as mortgage, food, utilities, car payments, tuition, and the list can go on. Most people work to obtain money to make these daily, weekly or monthly transactions. While others allow their money to work for them.

The world keeps our thoughts on money. It reflects that money offers a good life. The ability to dress well, travel anywhere and to purchase homes; luxury cars and expensive electronic devices. Society projects money gives power and the opportunity to open doors and catapult you to areas of great success.

People get lost in the lure of money. They become ensnared with this seduction. Thinking if money was present in their life, everything would be perfect. Playing the lottery, gambling or any other quick rich schemes are created to obtain this key to happiness. Some of these plans can be legal or illegal.

The scenario above points toward the people who lacks money. What about the people with unlimited back accounts?  Don’t be deceived, they have issues, as well. They may encounter problems that others cannot begin to perceive. They, too, may devise extreme strategies to keep their money and to obtain more money so they can bask in the power derived from money. Their sources can be legal or illegal.

There is nothing wrong with having money and exercising legal resources to get money. And, there is nothing wrong with being rich, wealthy or well off.

It has been preached that money is the root of evil. But researching this scripture. It actually says, For the love of money

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV)

The devotion and dedication toward money is the true evil. Money can become seductive, tempting you to do things or causes you to commit acts that are morally wrong, or criminal. Or you become enslaved to it or is willing to do anything to get it, keep it or get more of it. The true problem occurs when money becomes a replacement for God. You love money more than you love God. Or, you don’t need God if you have money. This statement becomes easy to think or say, I am nothing without money.

The pitfalls from the love of money:

Money keeps you cocky and puts you in a proud position in the sight of your peers and the populous.

And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. Luke 16:15King James Version (KJV)

Money will dominate, if you allow it, and you will serve it and God will be cast to the side.

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Luke 16:13King James Version (KJV)

Trusting in money offers temporary pleasure. When money is taken out of the equation, the money-minded pleasures leave.

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 1 Timothy 6:17King James Version (KJV)

When you identify yourself with money and you feel nothing without it. People will commit suicide, go into depression, or may beg, borrow or steal at any cost to keep the power of money. How do change your mind and never get to the point of saying I am nothing without money?

Remember money is a resource, something that is needed and useful, however, God is the Ultimate Source. He is the one who provides you with the power to obtain theses resources.

God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God. Psalm 62:11King James Version (KJV)

Money changes people. If you have money or a large sum of money comes into your life, ask God for the right direction on what, when, who and how to deal with this great blessing.

Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them. Psalm 62:10King James Version (KJV)

Trust God and not your money. You cannot pay your way to heaven.

Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! Mark 10:24King James Version (KJV)

Don’t identify yourself with money. You are not the righteousness of money. Identify yourself with God. You are the Righteousness of God.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21King James Version (KJV)

Money attempts to control you. Lack of it or too much of it, money can keep you agitated, worried and stressed.  God gives you rest.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28King James Version (KJV)

The closer you get to God and His Word. Your statement will change from,  I am nothing without money to I am nothing without God.

Chasing after money you will fall off a cliff. Chasing after God you will soar like an eagle.

Exclusive clubs, managerial levels, educational degrees, social classes and military classifications are examples of ranks. Rank is a position in society, organization or group. People have worked hard to be able to obtain these levels. And they should be celebrated on their great feats.

Many take great pride in that attainment of a certain status. Issues arise when you feel that you are made whole with this level and without it you feel you are nothing.

Ask yourself, if you are kicked out of the club, lose rank at work, become a member of a lower class, would you say, I am nothing without this rank.  Of course, there will be a certain amount of grieving and disappointment. You worked hard to get there and now you cannot do whatever you had planned. However, if you think your life is over and there is nothing in you except what your status have accomplished you are in real trouble. You are in an identity crisis.

The world has taught and continued to teach to put your identity in a certain type of prominence. And, without that particular status or level, you are nothing. Suicide, mental health and prison time are on the rise, because some people lost some type of social or government status and believed that some grand gesture had to be made for compensation for the great loss. There are countless stories about people who lost some type of position in life and their only solution was to end their lives. They imagined they had nothing else to live for. They placed their identity in a man-made structure and it failed.

Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. Psalm 60:11King James Version (KJV)

There are endless reasons why people strive to be in a high rank or statue. Most are noble. But, you must be honest and ask yourself, what are the deep rooted reasons why obtaining a prestige position is so important. Test your motives.

  1. Does it make you feel good about yourself?
  2. You desire for people to look up to you and praise you?
  3. You have bragging rights to others
  4. The pressures placed from family, friends, society or the government.
  5. It’s your chance to show the world you are someone and have achieved something.

Sometimes, people do not know why they have a drive to be in an exclusive class. It can be an attempt to fill a void, or quench a thirst with titles, positions and statuses. Sadly, you can be part of several exclusive positions in different areas of your life and have a continuous need to have more. Why?

Because God can feel that of void and make you full and whole without the whole and without the risk.

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; Psalm 63:1King James Version (KJV)

Is there peace with the ranks you have achieved? Or, is there turmoil or a constant demand to keep this position. This does not apply to the work needed for the level, but a restlessness or an unquietness that you never quite have peace. Any achievements made with God, He takes away the burdens

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28King James Version (KJV)

Unleash the burden of the rank. This does not necessarily mean giving it up or to walk away. Give the burden to God. Connect with God. He will lighten the load.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matthew 11:29King James Version (KJV)

God spirited reasons to obtain higher ranks and level levels;

Pride comes when you praise yourself for your position. Learn to praise and thank God for your rank.

Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. 1 Chronicles 29:13King James Version (KJV)

Obtain higher ranks to encourage others.

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. 1 Thessalonians 5:11King James Version (KJV)

Teach future generations about God and through His works you can achieve anything.

That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments. Psalm 78:6-7King James Version (KJV)

Help others to achieve dreams.

But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Hebrews 13:16King James Version (KJV)

God blessed you so that you can be a blessing to others.

The generous man [is a source of blessing and] shall be prosperous and enriched, And he who waters will himself be watered [reaping the generosity he has sown]. Are blessed so you can be a blessing to others. You Proverbs 11:25Amplified Bible (AMP)

Don’t be rooted and grounded in any position. Be rooted and grounded in God.

having been deeply rooted [in Him] and now being continually built up in Him and [becoming increasingly more] established [a]in your faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing in it with gratitude. Colossians 2:7Amplified Bible (AMP)

I am nothing without my name. A name is an identifier. It is a word or phrase that refers to a particular person, place or thing.

In the Bible days, a name represented who you were; what you were; what you will become, at times, where you were from.  Abraham means a father of many; Leah means weary; Jacob means supplanter. If you read about these people, their names described them well.

During other times, last names derived from occupations: Blacksmith, Carpenter, Baker, Cook or Farmer.

Today, names are derived from many sources, such as cars: Alexis and Porsche; athletes:  Michael and Jordan; days of the months: April, May and June.

The names of the rich and famous are heavily weighed. Future generation can lean on the family name for credibility, providing opportunities that may not have been available without the name.

While other names carry shame. Generations to come with family names of murderers, rapists, serial killers, tyrant leaders, and sex offenders may have doors slammed because of the name association.

Regardless if your name is distinguished or disgraced, it can be subject to change. Good names can become bad and the other way around. Putting stock in on a family name to build it up or to increase the power of the name is important. Bear in mind, that names can be effected by society, government, media or any other worldly trend. Scandals, criminal acts and immoral affairs can bring down strong names.

Some people are name-droppers. Speaking certain titles offers clout and recognition, If you have coasted, prospered or leaned on a family’s signature, or a title produced by marriage, adoption or any other avenue, if it is taken away, does the phrase come to mind or is spoken, I am nothing without my name. You are in an identity crisis.

One name that can endure time, tribulations and trends. A name than can stand strong, no matter what happened in the past; what is occurring in the present; or what can develop in the future. A name to hang all hopes, dreams and aspirations.

That is the Righteousness of God.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21King James Version (KJV)

When you declare yourself as the righteousness of God. You are accepting God as your Almighty Father. Like any parent, you are protected and preserved. You will propel and prosper under His love. And you will be granted all gifts He has to offer.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith. Galatians 5:22King James Version (KJV)

Heritage is the property that descents to an heir. Because we are God’s children everything that is His is ours. He gives His protection.

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. Isaiah 54:17King James Version (KJV)

Peace, calmness and confidence is produced by His Name.

And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. Isaiah 32:17King James Version (KJV)

His Name offers peace for your children.

And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

Never say or think, I am nothing without my name, and remember you are everything with God’s name, because you are the Righteousness of God.

Daily, we hear about how identify thieves have stolen people’s social security numbers, tapped into their bank accounts or obtained credit card numbers. The results can be thousands of dollars in debt.

Now, there are different types of safeguards against identity theft. There are programs to download, or companies to pay, who monitors your identity. At the first sign of any fraudulent activities, the software or companies notify you.

People will go great lengths to protect their identity, money and possessions. And will do or pay anything to guard against deceptive invasions.  Many do not realize their true identity has been stolen by a stealthy thief. The process was done in secret and carried out smoothly, most did not see it coming, or do not realize that it was done.

The thief is the devil and he uses the platform of the world; the methods of the government and society and the tools of the media and internet. These ideologies have sculptured your way of thinking and guided you away from God.

Identity is the name, qualities, beliefs that make a particular person or group different from others. The characteristics or personality of an individual is their name, character, personality and status. The devil’s job is to make you believe a lie, forget who you are and then guide you into accepting whatever society dictates.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10King James Version (KJV)

Identity Theft is a crime. A thief (a person who steals something secretly or stealthily) steals (to take something that does not belong to them in a way that is wrong), your personal (belonging to you) information (knowledge about you) to commit (to carry into action) a fraud (the crime to use dishonest methods to take something valuable from someone).

The above elementary description may be excessive, but I wanted to illustrate a full breakdown of what is happening to your individuality. Because the identity crises is a challenging and dangerous juncture that needs education, direction and solutions. This generation and future generations are in jeopardy of forgetting who they are;  and who and what they can trust.

That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments. Psalm 78:6-7King James Version (KJV)

Society directs people to put stock and trust in material things. With that direction if the items are taken or lost,

In the next three post, name, rank and serial number will be addressed.
